Loved this video!  I have a friend that I go visit, and this past spring and early summer, his dog and a red-winged black bird would play together in the field behind his house.  The bird would look for the dog each night, then when he would come out, the bird would swoop down very close to him over and over again.  He wasn't trying to protect a nest, or anything like that as the bird would follow him all over the field.  The dog would, in turn, leap up and try to play, too.  When the dog was out, and the bird could not be found, he would go sit by the tall grass where the bird would often perch, and just wait there.  Invariably, the bird would show up within minutes.

Amazing stuff!  Thanks for sharing!

Lots of love,

Kathy

Back in 1996 I had a magical summer.  I had just lost my job and decided to do some landscape projects around the house.  On this one particular day I was sanding my oak benches and a bird showed up perched on the back of the chair.  I put the bird at just very recently learning to fly from the nest and still a bit clingy to whoever was there to allow it.

So I'm sanding away with one of those square vibrating sanders, long strokes left to right and back again, and the bird decides to keep pace with the sander back and forth back and forth.  If I went in the house for a moment and then came back out the bird was there waiting for me and would come land on my hand when I put my hand out.  We spent the enchanted afternoon together.

When Kerry got home from work I told her about my day with this young bird.  She didn't believe me until I said, "watch", and put my hand out and the bird came from the tree it was in and landed on my shoulder and stayed there long enough for Kerry to get the camera and take the shot.  I finally had to kind of shoo the darling thing away so it could get on with its own life in the wild...

Nothing quite like that has ever happened (to me) since...

Wow, really cool video & stories. All I can share is that I used to give to the elephant sanctuary. It costs them tons of money to keep these ex-circus performers alive and fed. Many of the animals had to endure abusive conditions once their use to the circus was done.

More amazing elephants:

And I have a cat who (I say who because he is, indeed, a true personality) loves to chase shadows!  I try to play with him with strings and other objects and if there's any sort of light and shadow play he always opts to chase the shadow instead of the object making the shadow - somebody trying to tell me something?

Our lessons come from everywhere when we are present enough to receive them.

Bill,

Thanks for posting this, you and I are certainly on the same page. I saw this and wanted to post it but I had other things going on.. A wonderful evidence that LOVE is Infinite and all compassing.   Don't you know that I and a whole lot of others had tears when we watched that video.

I don't have an elephant, thank to God!.. LOL,   but I have two dogs and a cat, who have the same kind of loving relationship that that elephant and the dog have.  They are like the three muskuteers when they go out into the back yard together to chase squirrels, (or neighbors chickens. LOL) And they will greet one another with a kiss on the nose. And they all mourned when Ray died.  I had three weeks of morning around here after his death.   Hard to believe if you haven't seen it but Animals Do Experience LOVE!

I'm sorry, but I can only find this video on Facebook.  Maybe someone can find it to post more widely.  More animals showing us how to love.
