Ahead Of Their Time. Or Ahead Of Me At The Least

Ah, "My Dinner with Andre," a classic.  The conversation is so captivating that the audience forgets that the entire movie takes place at the dinner table.  I'd forgotten the subject matter.  Now, you've got me wanting to see it again.

Yes, the veil has been blinding the populous for centuries, but there is mounting evidence that the matrix is losing its power.  A new age of enlightenment and sovereignty is dawning.

Went to a benefit auction that was held at a casino last week.  the people sitting at all those digital slot machines reminded me of the matrix.  only in this case they are willing participants.  that is even more scary imo.  people smoking, sitting, and losing money for hours on purpose - a bit depressing...

they are such strange places...in the southwest, they have the penny slots, and all the old timers sit there all day dropping pennies into the machines. Some play 2 or 3 machines at once...

In Taos we had a tiny smoke-free Indian casino nearby...I  was about broke one winter, and went down there to apply for a job. They interviewed me, then turned me down, saying they couldn't hire a white guy! ha! So I decided to break their slot machine...I had ten bucks,,and picked a lonely machine in the corner. At 5 bucks down, I scored about 75 bucks,,,and quickly left. I returned once a week for the winter and hit that machine every week before the ten dollar mark for 50 to 100 bucks, and paid my utility bills for the winter. The trick was to leave as soon as I hit, whether it was 40 bucks, or 80 bucks.  I felt likeI had broken the matrix, as I was always in and out of there in 30minutes or less...

Please don't gamble! haha! and be sure to leave before Tony Orlando and Dawn start playing!

had to laugh at your casino story-here's the experience I had.  Several years ago my husband filed for divorce.  On the day the judgement would be handed down, we stood before the judge and she asked if we were ready to dissolve the union, my husband had second thoughts and asked if we could reconcile.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but agreed (we'd been together 25 years) and we left the courthouse together.  Being minutes from Greektown we thought we'd have lunch for the sake of old times there.  I saw the newly opened casino and said hey, let's check it out- I've never been to one.  We agreed on a $20 limit each.  We picked .25 slots and before I had spent $5 mine hit.  DING DING DING...and I watched it get higher and higher. It didn't register to me how much I had won...but my husband said OMG you just won $1250 bucks.  I about fell outta my chair.  They came to cash me out...I said let's get the hell out of here....and have not entered a casino again. I could like that too much or lose my shirt.  So you might say luck was with us and our gamble was on each other.  40 years together and 33 married and we're still hedging our bets ;)

* omg maybe when my g-son says I'm an old lady he's almost right-but being an old crone ain't so bad.

Yea, at the slots and also at the gym. As much as I like exercise i finally had to quit the gym. Seeing all those people lined up in front of the TV's - just like the matrix.

Noa, thanks for the movie reference - I'll have to see if I can find that to rent.
