I don't know much about computers and the internet, but I think that ISPs track the servers and the PC identification numbers for every website we visit and every email we send or receive. If this is so, then it should be a relatively simple process to track that email to its source.
This is the same process by which computer hackers are caught. I think Luke just needs to contact the right person who can sleuth it out.
