Wal-Mart to begin RFID tracking

I apologize for my many posts lately but I would be interested to hear your opinions on this one.  In the article one guy even jokes about the RFID chips by saying, "Better yet put them on your kids or car keys so you stop losing them all the time."

URGENT ALERT: WAL-MART TO BEGIN ITEM-LEVEL TAGGING CLOTHING WITH RFID
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! PLEASE JOIN US IN OPPOSING WAL-MART'S RFID PLANS

Dear CASPIAN Members and Supporters,

Today the Wall Street Journal broke an enormous story: Wal-Mart, the
nation's largest retailer, has declared war on our privacy. The giant
retailer has announced it will begin placing item-level RFID (Radio
Frequency IDentification) tracking tags on clothing sold in its stores.

THIS IS HUGE NEWS. It is the first step to the planned roll-out of the
Internet of Things, where global corporations like IBM, Procter &
Gamble, and Wal-Mart's technology partner NCR plan to equip every
product with a tracking device and use a network of RFID readers to
monitor and observe YOU everywhere you go. It is the frightening world
detailed in our book "Spychips: How Major Corporations and Government
Plan to Track Your Every Move with RFID," and it is finally coming to
pass.

Unless we stop it, Wal-Mart's roll-out is scheduled to begin next month.

Here is the Wall Street Journal article:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704421304575383213061198090.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_LEFTTopStories

And here is a WSJ poll where you can make your views known (today only):
http://online.wsj.com/community/groups/question-day-229/topics/do-you-have-privacy-concerns

As you know, RFID is a powerful tracking technology that raises
unprecedented privacy concerns. Wal-Mart's plan does more than just
threaten our privacy -- it is poised to become a direct threat to our
freedom and civil liberties, as I will describe in future emails.

It is imperative that we immediately act to oppose Wal-Mart's RFID
rollout. I have placed calls and given Wal-Mart an opportunity to
respond, but as of this afternoon, Wal-Mart corporate executives and
media representatives have not returned my calls.

In the meantime, we are formulating a response to Wal-Mart's plans that
will protect consumers. I will keep you posted on this breaking story.

In freedom,

Katherine Albrecht, Ed.D.

I love this quote from the article:

"Wal-Mart has climbed to the top of the retailing world by continuously squeezing costs out of its operations and then passing on the savings to shoppers at the checkout counter. Its methods are widely adopted by its suppliers and in turn become standard practice at other retail chains."  Boy, they make Wal-Mart sound like real innovators doing noble deeds for the community.

So what color terror alert would you give this one?

Just walk out the door of Walmart, cut the tags off and throw them in Walmart's trash. Problem solved. The real worry here is that RFID technology can be made so small that it could be put into an injection and placed within your body without your knowledge. The PTB are just getting people used to the idea just like getting people ready for a cashless society with their pushing of debit cards. They have been tracking people's spending habits through bar codes since the late 60s. You purchase with a debit or credit card and through barcodes they can track an individual's spending habits. They have used this information to manipulate markets for years. Not to worry though. According to all the channeled beings out there, the defeat of the PTB is inevitable and that right soon. Hope they are right.

Call me Mary's picture

Hi Francis,

You asked for opinions on this and – what do you know… I happen to have one on this particular subject … sitting right over here.  Lol

Having worked with inventories at different jobs I have had, I can see the advantages to RFID tagging.  It reduces labor and errors when moving inventory in and out of stores.  Computers can do this so much better than people!   Wal-Mart is such a huge business that I think that they would have to use more advanced technology in order get where they are.   Now, I am not a fan of Wal-Mart and do not shop there.  But I can understand how this technology would benefit them.  It would be stupid for them to NOT use it.

I have not read a lot on the RFID tracking articles due to the fact it strikes me as a lot of fear-mongering, so I may be a little ignorant also.    Reading and talking with others out here at the G-Spot, I have learned new ways of how to look at the articles, how to use some thinking skills along with my personal discernment.    Here are the ramblings of my consciousness as I read about this:

I wonder what interest they would find in tracking my where-abouts?  Would they be able to tell that I was wearing a Wal-Mart Shirt, Sears shoes, Target pants…. and K-Mart underwear?   Would they find it interesting that I go back and forth to work each day, sneak over to the ice cream shop occasionally, mostly stay home in the evenings, and lead a pretty boring life – all in all?   Just who is going to process all this data…. From everything….. and every purchase….all the time?  That would be one tremendous amount of information.    And if I was labeled as “boring and a non-threat” now… would they still keep tracking me on the condition that some day I might become “interesting and threatening”?  Could they be able to get that information from Wal-Mart products that I have bought?  Can you imagine the amount of inventory that pours out of the Wal-Mart stores on a day to day basis?

The fear that I feel rising with the thought of being “tracked” seems to be connected back into history – and oppression of the masses.   It’s been done before – with disastrous results, and I’m sure it could be done again, but I have a (hopeful?) belief  that it would be harder to do that now… than it was before.  More people are aware.  More people are waking up.  The younger generations are not so easy to tame as perhaps our grandparents.. or parents generation… or even ours.  And while we might complain about these younger kids not following any rules or doing it like we were taught….. I am thankful on the other hand.  They just might be showing us a better way.

My last thought on this “fear of being tracked” led me to an internal question.  What would I NOT want anyone to know that I do?…. And why?    Perhaps it is this unanswered self examination that allows some to feel so threatened with the thought of “being tracked”.   If you don’t want anyone to know what you’re doing….. maybe you might want to change your behavior.  I have a feeling that we are headed to a way of living that will not allow secrecy.  How could we have secrets if we are all one?

As with many advances in technology… It is not the technology that is bad.  It is the misuse of it.     I have to believe in the information that I keep coming across that says we DO make it through this chaotic, insane period of time.  We DO evolve and raise our consciousness – using all that is here now as a stepping stone.  We weren’t meant to spend a lot of time in this particular period of growing up.  But all that we have learned here has a value.

With Love,

 Mary

Oh and Francis…. Please don’t apologize for havnig “many posts”.    I happen to enjoy all of them as I’m sure others do.  Please keep it up.

RFID always frightens me for it's potential for abuse and I always start out paranoid but end up dismissing it as impracticable or unnecessary partly because they can just track our phones anyway, and those have cameras and microphones that can be activated remotely without you knowing-so...

I am stressed out worrying about so many other things-I'm running out of room for more.

ksaulino's picture

I am in the boat that says... my life is so darn boring, you'd think someone would have better things to do than track my walmart t-shirt.  Or my kid's walmart t-shirt, for that matter.  Can't you just imagine the scene?

(Two guys hovered a the computer) Oh, look... she's leaving the house... down the street, across the bridge, and to her place of work... looks like she's heading down the hall now... bathroom break... ok, now in the cafeteria... back to her desk....... .... ....  leaving work... stopping at the grocery store... to the gas station... back at home... shirt sitting in a laundry basket til wash day.  Woohoo!

As Brian said, at least with my cell phone, I have it with me all the time, not just once every few weeks, and it's mine... it won't end up as a rag, or a hand me down.

There are already so many things attached to me that my whereabouts, if at all interesting, are already completely known to anyone who might be watching.  As a person who was on the receiving end of a stalker's attentions a few years back, I became acutely aware of how easy it was to track someone's whereabouts nearly every hour of the day, without much more than access to bank accounts and email.  At some point, you just give up being scared because otherwise you forget to live your life.

Lots of love,

Kathy

Hi All-

In the short term this is harmless enough but not in the long term. I think at this point it is going to be used for marketing, not necessarily following people around. The idea is that if they know you have bought athletic shoes at Walmart they can do targeted marketing - you'll probably get flyers in the mail for shorts, tee shirts and sports equipment. Also, they can track where the items go - what items end up next to other items in your house, etc. It will be tied by GIS technology (geographic information systems)  They will get people used to the convenience of being able to just leave the store with the item - no more need for check-out as they can scan your credit card via verichip as well. Money willl just be in chips. This will all be great for the consumer and benefit the masses until they decide to really put the screws to us. They can use the system to optimize prices - if they know there are a lot of gizmo xyz's in an area that will all expire in the next month they might raise the price on that gizmo at the stores in that area. Eventually the government can also take over and use it for what ever they like - rationing goods, taxing us to dealth, controling people via their chips, etc. Here's the relevant Aaron Russo clip with him talking about Rockefeller's plan for total control via chips.

Wendy

Brian's picture

My reaction to Russo's account is to think that Rockefeller may have been pulling his leg. Some people delight in freaking others out...just a thought.

Maybe there are people interested in doing these kinds of surveillance and I admit PLJ that I don't dismiss them lightly.  Maybe it's just another psyops technique to intimidate or a long-term project to acclimatize us to the technology(it accomplishes both-IMO). Maybe they want to increase cancers for the new Cancer wings the hospitals are all building now-I wonder who is funding their construction? Maybe it will allow them to plant evidence-falsely implicating a person by electronic means. They could pin a False Flag terrorist attack on you by faking an RF tag then faking surveillance videos. It would be difficult to defend yourself from this evidence if you didn't have an awesome alibi...

If no legislation is created to force retailers to remove the tags, I will worry. There are so many things Congress should be passing laws against right now! UGH!!!

Wendy's picture

Hi Brian-

I doubt Nick Rockefeller was just pulling Aaron's leg. The Rockefeller family history is full of similar control tactics from the beginning. Here's a clip from PBS's American Experience:

...any doubt about the long standing designs and desires of the Rockefellers, I present these quotes by David and John D.

<!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

David Rockefeller

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time
Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended
our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost
forty years."

"It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world
if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years.
But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a
world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite
and world bankers is surely preferable to the national
auto-determination practiced in past centuries."

Everything is in place - after 500 years - to build a true 'new world' in the Western Hemisphere... And what happens if we don't pass NAFTA? I truly don't think that 'criminal' would be too strong a word for rejecting NAFTA—David Rockefeller

<!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

In our dreams, people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hands. The present education conventions of intellectual and character education fade from their minds, and, unhampered by tradition, we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive folk.      We shall not try to make these people, or any of their children, into philosophers, or men of science. We have not to raise up from them authors, educators, poets or men of letters. We shall not search for great artists, painters, musicians nor lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen -- of whom we have an ample supply.      The task is simple. We will organize children and teach them in a perfect way the things their fathers and mothers are doing in an imperfect way.

John D. Rockefeller Sr.

These quotes contain some of the very ideas that Russo was talking about but the Rockefellers are just adepts of a much higher authority somwhere. They are used because of the power they weild in this country.

When I read your response Mary I was taken aback; I didn’t know what to think.  At first I was almost insulted by the simplicity with which you quickly cast aside my initial fears concerning RFID tracking.  I sat back and wondered, “why do I feel this way?”  I couldn’t figure it out.  But then it came to me - you were right.  The reason your argument about transparency is so simple is because it’s right, and the truth is always simple.  Deceit is what’s complicated:  “Oh what a tangled web we weave,” right?  I soon conceded the validity of your argument but a part of me kept wanting to be right and almost shouted, “But this is only the first step!  If they get away with this, then it’s only a matter of time until they’re tagging us!  How can people not see this!?!”

So I reread your response and the same conflicted feelings arose again.  “I know she’s right,” I thought.  “Of course she’s right.  Transparency is the key.  I’ve come to the same conclusion myself again and again.  But then why can I not let go of my uneasiness concerning RFID tracking?”

I’ll leave that for the moment and say that as far as tagging clothes and other store bought items goes I have no problem with it as long as I’m not wearing it.  I agree it seems harmless, especially if the tag can be removed.  It does seem like a tremendous amount of useless info and what would be the benefit of keeping track of what we’re wearing?  So really that part doesn’t bother me and I agree with everyone else who said as much.

But let me play devil’s advocate for a moment.  The question, “What would I NOT want anyone to know that I do?” might just as easily be applied to the PTB:  What do they not want anyone to know about what they do?  Would keeping track of everyone and knowing their activities be helpful in controlling them?  The PTB don’t want to change their behavior so they must try to control ours.  This is their ploy to keep us from changing, to keep us from waking up.  As with politicians pushing for new laws and amendments they seem to push more and more to see how far they can go, to test the public to see if there’s any resistance, and then, if we don’t stand up for our rights, they take it even further the next time, with the ultimate goal of throwing out the Constitution altogether.  Then when we figure out their plan and try to stand up for our rights it’ll be too late.  So from this perspective the idea of RFID tags on anything feels like a bad idea, like the first step in a possible series of steps towards whatever horrible agenda they might have in mind.  And thank you Wendy for your video post which perfectly supported and validated my initial concerns about RFID’s.  Now that’s just ridiculously unbelievable, far-fetched and frightening all at the same time!

But I don’t want to buy into that kind of fear.  Enough with the fear-mongering even if it’s true!  Mary, your response about transparency rang so true to me that I have to believe it - I choose to.  Deep inside I resonate with the truth of this response.  I reflect and realize that the stance of looking at the situation from a them vs. us perspective is not creating the world of unity that I long to help bring into manifestation.  Even after experiencing my indignant anger upon reading Rockefeller’s, “We will organize children and teach them in a perfect way the things their fathers and mothers are doing in an imperfect way,” I realized that it’s just another trap I’ve fallen into.  Why would I give them that kind of power over me?  Why would I just give it away when it could be used for so much more.  Lately I’ve discovered that the more dishonest thoughts, activities and secretive behaviors I cut out of my life the better I feel and the taller I can walk down the busy streets of this city full of secretive and destructive behavior.  And I can do it while honoring that everyone has their own path to follow; I honor it, knowing I can’t change anyone else, that we all have the free will to learn our lessons anyway we choose, yet willing to lend a helping hand wherever I can.

I choose to believe that with a certain readjustment in our thoughts and outlook we can create a better world.  I have to admit that I like and agree with some of the messages we get from outlandish sources when they feel right, like when Hatonn says, “rather than saying that you are healing the waters of the world that have been stricken with the pollution of certain parties, instead give all of your energy to the image of the purity of the waters and the wonder of the wildlife that make their homes within the waters, in the sky, and on the earth.  This is what creates, dear ones; your thoughts are magnificent creators and the energy that you put into them is the movement that sets them free and allows them to create in the way that you intend.  Such is the power you have.”  I just had a wonderful experience of synchronicity - something just came together for me in an awesome way.  I don’t know if you’ve read the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas but there was always a phrase in one of the passages that I couldn’t quite put together.  It reads:

22b  His disciples asked him:  If we are infants will we enter the Kingdom?  Jesus responded:  When you make the two into one, and when you make the inside like the outside and the outside like the inside, and the upper like the lower, and thus make the male and the female the same, so that the male isn’t male and the female isn’t female.  When you make an eye to replace an eye, and a hand to replace a hand, and a foot to replace a foot, and an image to replace an image, then you will enter the Kingdom.

Replace the polluted waters with the pure waters, an image with an image.  That’s great!  And the first saying says:  “And he said:  Whoever finds the correct interpretation of these sayings will never die.”  Getting closer!!!

I apologize for being so long-winded but the next one says so much about what we are all going through:  “Jesus said:  The seeker should not stop until he finds.  When he does find, he will be disturbed.  After having been disturbed, he will be astonished.  Then he will reign over everything.”  I just think that’s beautiful.

But back to you Mary and your point of transparency.  Thank you for your insightful take on the problem of RFID’s.  I think it’s something we should all strive for, transparency and integrity in all we do.  We will only affect true change when we stop reacting to their games and begin creating from our hearts.

And I applaud you for taking some time off from work.  I’ve been in the same place lately, not wanting to go to work, feeling deep inside there’s got to be something better to do with my time and energy.  “Where I am now is getting so very uncomfortable.”  I’m right there with you where work is concerned.  Finding meaningful work has been my lifelong struggle and I still haven’t worked it out yet.  Sounds to me like your internal guidance system is kicking into high gear and steering you on to something better.  I wish mine would.  Trust yourself and let yourself go through this process, I think in the end you may be in for a pleasant surprise.

Love and light to all!

Francis

Technology is simply a tool.  It is how the tool is used and the perceptions of the reciever and user of the technology as to whether or not it is good or ilk.

--fairyfarmgirl

Francis's picture

That was the one point I left out that I meant to make.  Like Mary said, "It is not the technology that is bad.  It is the misuse of it."  Kind of like money, it's not money that's the problem (except for the fact that "because money is an unmistakable form of property, it should be abolished" as it states in your Iarga passage fairyfarmgirl) but the love of money, a.k.a greed, and the deceitful lengths we'll go to attain it and as well as use it.  I always marvel at how people fawn over the rich and famous and I always want to say, "Yeah, but what are they doing with it?"

Hmmm . . . maybe money is a problem . . .

Everything is an evolution.  We are evolving away from money.  The Igarians still have a system of accounting just not as a competetive free market system for monetary gain.  The gain is seen as improving the product for the consumer who is considered to be the reason for making the stuff in the first place.  The Igarians with their evolved sense of Justice and fairness would see our manufactured obselence as waste.  Waste is illogical and causes disharmony with self, others, the planet and cosmos.

Call me Mary's picture

Francis - It’s interesting how you felt that I “quickly cast away your initial fears concerning RFID tracking’, when – actually – I was just expressing MY opinion.  I wasn’t trying to change yours, or anyone else’s ideas, thoughts, or opinions.  I – very selfishly – was just talking about ME.    I find that this is really all I know how to do.     Lol.

I do understand the very real concern and fear over being tagged – tracked  - and controlled.    It wasn’t my intention to make light of it, at all.  My life has been one lived in fear, basically.  When told to sit down, shut up and stand in line…. I have done just that.. for years…. out of fear.   When I look out into the world – at what has been done – at what is being done – I just want to sit down and cry.   On the other hand… it was exactly this helplessness, hopelessness and fear that propelled me onto the spiritual path.  (Great motivator.)

What I found particularly interesting in your reply, Francis, is your process through the “Observe outside and study within” that was mentioned in the other post.  I love how you described the internal changing/challenge of your beliefs/mindset.  (Or at least that is what I see it as when it happens to me.)  You experienced uncomfortable-ness within after reading something that was not aligned with your current beliefs/mindset.    But instead of just putting it off as “some-idiot-that-doesn’t-get-it-out-there-on-the-forum”, you looked within at the feeling and asked, “What is this?”    To me (and here I go talking about me again ) when I read something that I agree with and like – I’m just done.  It’s easy and I can just say “yeah… I like that.”    I don’t have to stretch, or move, or grow.   But when I read something that irritates me… that I disagree with…. That is when I find the key to the secret doorway that leads to my “within”.   The doorway I keep hidden from myself.    The irritation/uncomfortable-ness is the doorway.    The key is the question – “Why do I feel this way?”   The “tangled webs we weave” – which will be found all over the doorway it is hiding … will have the easy answer written on it --à  “He is an idiot.  I don’t like her. They are (insert polictal party here)”  No need to look behind the door when the answer is right there.

I thought your declaration of “Enough with the fear-mongering even if it’s true! “ was a very powerful statement that was the result of opening the door within…. And the ensuing struggle with a mindset that didn’t want to change.    Turning away from the fear doesn’t necessarily mean that we aren’t aware of what is going on.  One of the hardest things to see is how much pleasure, delight and enjoyment we actually have with playing with the darkness and making others big, bad and terribly wrong.  It keeps US right... and good.... and better somehow.

So many times I see others struggle out here – needing to know that “the source” is reliable before they can digest the message.  If they can’t get past the sources reliability – then the baby gets thrown out with the bath water – so to speak.     I can see that you extended me a certain level of respect by looking at what I said a couple times and struggling with it.  And I thank you for putting your process out here.  I learned from it and enjoyed all that you included in this post.   I also learned that sometimes when I am just selfishly talking about me… I might happen to help someone else along the way.   Hopefully it won’t always be by irritating them though.  J

Oh – one more thing..  You might not want to wish for your internal guidance system to kick in high gear.  Because if that is what is happening within me right now….. It feels very similar to “out of control”.    Guess I just have to trust in the process now - like you said.

With Love,

 Mary

Wow, now there's an illuminating idea!

Make "Light"..... of it

Or out of it

We ever learn to do that concerning the things we concern ourselves with, we are off to the races!!!!  Thanks for the muse trigger Mary...

Love, Light and Peace with no opposite, Chris

Hey Mary,

That is all so beautifully put!...and yes I am one that has learned and found support through your sharing of yourself....

I started saying after being in here for a while that we are all just talking to ourselves...and here I go...Lol......I think that is what this place is all about. Here you can explore your ideas and thoughts, you can explore yourself,  more openly than any other place I know....here we LOVE YOU, and while some may think it devalue's that love.....it doesn't matter who you are....and it's not because of anything you did.....we LOVE everyone....always....hehehehe...well I do anyway...Tongue out..Lol

I love when someone in here is typing and you can see pieces of their puzzle are falling into place for them...the energy and enthusiasm with which they type is often inspiring and enlightening to me....but it's the process, the sharing of within which is often very personal to the person expressing it that gets me and not so much what they are saying...Lol..........my fav posts here....and there are many....

Thank you for being!
