Poetry must be in the air - I posted more before I saw this.
I often hear about how 'bad' the youth today are from elders, and I often defend them. It's a tough place to grow up, this world they face on the streets. I live within 10 miles of inner city Detroit, so I've seen many kids without alot of hope or even basic necessities of life. This piece was wonderful Noa, thanks for the post. I've forwarded it to my mailing list with the subject-if you think all youth don't 'get it'...and have loads of great responses. I hope it opened a few eyes and reminded not to 'judge' others based on stereotypes etc. Our youth have lots to offer when we are willing to pay attention and some are much more enlightened than they are given credit for.
