FRIENDSHIP

I would like to say hello to everyone, using the words of my father. He wrote most of his poetry in the 40s and 50s.

FRIENDSHIP by Maxwell Hatcher Milton

Just a word in friendship spoken,
Just a bright and happy smile,
Just a cheery happy greeting
Helps to make this life worthwhile.

Just to help a weary brother,
Just to cheer him when he's blue,
Just to lighten up his burden
Brings real happiness to you.

Just a helping hand extended,
Just an understanding true,
Just a thought clean and unselfish
Brightens all the world for you.

For it costs us oh so little,
Just to smile instead of sigh,
Bringing forth a ray of sunshine
To a brother's tear dimmed eye.

Banish all your hate and anger,
Let a smile light up your face,
By the joy of righteous living
In the world you'll find a place.

That really is a lovely poem, thankyou for sharing it! it made me smile!

What a beautiful thought - Dad is still making people smile long after he left this arena. I like that, Jez.

Hi Max,

And welcome to our small but growing group. I like your dad's poem as it reminds us of how important all the little things in our daily life really are. Who knows where that smile to a stranger we pass on the sidewalk will end up. It's like the wake behind the boat, reaching further and further away from its origin. Not an original metaphor, of course, but thanks for the reminder.

Love and Peace,
JoyAnna

Hello JoyAnna - I am so glad that you took the time to read dad's poetry and leave a message for me. I appreciate that.

I don't know if you read my blog from the last two days, but I mentioned how we start our days at local coffeehouses. Today was absolutely incredible. We met a gal from Uganda - her name was Joy and she absolutely radiated! I am going to write that story in my blog later today and I hope you will read it. This woman is unbelievable.

I hope you will come back to visit. I think we have much to share. Much love to you from Max.
