10 Things You Should Know... (Smiling Gently)

Ten Things You Should Know Before Leaving Home

  1. Handle compliments by simply saying "Why, thank you".

  2. Some people work backstage; some play in the orchestra; some sing on stage; some serve in the audience as critics; some are there to applaud. Know who and where you are.

  3. Never give yourself a haircut.

  4. When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste. When eating, take time to enjoy it.

  5. Be more concerned about your character than your reputation... because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think of you.

  6. You need just two tools to fix everything: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use the tape.

  7. Memorize these 5 words for healthy, vital relationships: "I apologize" and "You are right."

  8. When you make a mistake, make amends immediately. It's much easier to eat crow while it's still warm.

  9. Learn to pick your battles. Ask yourself, 'Will this matter one year from now? How about one month? One week? One day?'

  10. If you messed up yesterday but woke up today breathing, congratulations! You have another chance!

Thanks for those wise thoughts, Sharon! Like Jez, I cut my own hair, but I do have someone check to make sure I didn't mess it up too bad. Lots of love and warm wishes, Fred
