Skills and Services

In the last Transformation Team lesson, it says:

"The community portal will provide you with all kinds of wonderful tools which allow you to communicate and connect up with members of the Transformation Team in a variety of ways.
You'll be able to advertise your skills and services, find services offered by others, promote your work and that of others, find members with similar interests to you, participate in exciting discussion groups and forums, request healing energy, and lots more."

No one seems to have taken up the invitation to advertise skills and services. I would like to advertise mine and hear about the work of others.

Any interest in a Skills and Services forum???

Great idea!  I've been wondering what would come of this, too.

What do others do?  I make the finest soaps anywhere.  I make my own personal-care products and my own medicines. I can give good advice on repairing and restoring antiques and furniture.  I know how to live off the land.  Oh yeah, I'm a certified Master Composter, too.

This is great. Yes I agree, it is time to actually get things moving and you know what? It is entirely up to us to do so!

Thanks Linda for tackling this one.

I would love to offer my Aura-Soma and Reiki services, but you are all a bit far away! I do promise though to always have a willing ear to lend.

Dave, I also do some composting and would love to have some more advice on how to do it properly. My soil is pure sand, so the only stuff I grow is in pots as we also have a problem with not using too much water.

I have been very interested in getting myself an earthworm composter. I have seen it on TV it is being used by one of our biggest and fanciest hotels in Cape Town. They are turning all their peeling, left overs, whatever.

The system consists of some special earthworms, a big black drum that is made up of about six layers of sieves and a tap. You put the worms in the bottom, the first strainer on top, put your kitchen scraps on that and they will crawl up and start digesting. When that tray is full, you put on the next one, until they have all been used up. By then the bottom tray is ready for the compost to be used. They also produce a liquid (worm pee) which is apparently the most incredible liquid fertiliser. I have just been a bit reluctant to get one because, being on my own, I don't know if I will produce enough to keep the worms fed.

Long life to you my friend.

I have retired into creativity and have done some commisions that...well things just bubble up, or come through and end up on the canvas that are a subtle aspect of the person(s) in the painting. It seems to be an ability that is expanding, so I am now just extending this into surreal paintings that just evolve as they are being painted. I don't have a very large body of work of this most recent endeavor, but as it grows I'll try to post some.

Sharing...

Hi there, I'm glad you brought this up. The Local/Classifieds section is designed just for that. You can get there by going to Community -> Local/Classifieds. I would love for us to brainstorm on how to improve this part of the website

Lots of love,
Andrey.

FFG, I'd love to exchange some info with you...what kind of salves? Do you make lotions? What are your thoughts on natural emulsifiers?

Hi, Andrey
I think the problem with the classified section is that there are not enough of us yet to make it work set off as a separate section. Most of the areas have 0 entries and when I went to the richest area--Berkeley--I couldn't find anything without pushing all the subcategories.

If sharing our resources is to be something that helps us know each other better and build community, I would want it to feel different from Craig's list.

As Magical Godmother, I am a creativity coach.

I originally set out to work with gifted girls but now realize that what I do works for everyone and that I am interested in working with all kinds of creative people. Because I am a prize winning author who has worked in a variety of fields, I am most interested in helping people write and publish their books. I do everything from helping Ph.Ds turn their dissertations into something they can get published to working with bright kids who want to publish a book of their short stories.

Because I think of TT people as friends rather than a prospective market, I would like to have them check out my services if they are interested but also pass on the word to people they know (especially kids) who might benefit and give me suggestions on attracting more clients. I have a fee schedule for those who can afford to pay, but I work free for starving artists.

My web page (not really up to date) is www.magicalgodmother.com My most recent books are Battle Cries and Lullabies: Women in War from Prehistory to the Present
http://www.amazon.com/Battle-Cries-Lullabies-Prehistory-Present/dp/08061...
and In Search of Molly Pitcher. www.lulu.com/content/948354

Dear ursula, I love to compost! Wet cardboard or newspaper on the ground, plastic on top maybe to keep moist. I had one of those worm bins.....like them freerange better. Are you coastal? Seaweed is very good, Goat, rabbit poo is good...chicken poo good but hot.....The trick is volume, gotta have enough to create an oasis for bugs, worms, whatever!Do not add any oil, meat dairy....They attract vermin,go rancid. Soak and tear newspaper or cardboard mix with soil dry weeds(no seeds unless compost is HOT) kitchen scraps. Like an artists pallete an assortment of colors of things small sticks to keep air available, turn occasionally......once you get a pile going it works like starter for next pile. It's more fun than typing!         Love Mary

Very cool, Linda. I'm writing a book right now :-)

It's funny you mentioned craigslist - that's exactly what I had in mind when I set up the Local/Classifieds section. In the Bay Area, Craigslist is amazing - I found where I live through Craigslist, I find rides up and down the coast through there all the time, got a great microphone for recording and other things as well! I love it and the idea of it, and to know that people who are reading/posting are my fellow TT members is even more amazing.

What do you have in mind when you say you want it to feel different than Craigslist? I think we can take what works and make it even better!

Lots of love,
Andrey.

Craigslist is open to everyone and when I post to that list I am in my business mode. I would not post on craigslist announcing that I work for free for starving artists because then everyone who responded would be a starving artist.

I agree that craigslist is great. All of us on TT are connected with many other web resources, and many of them are great. So the question is, what would make the TT listings special when we share our skills with each other.

When I am out in the larger world I have to deal with the problem of suspicion. There is a stereotype of gifted people--the gifted male is a "mad scientist" and the gifted female is a "wicked witch." If I were to offer free mentoring to gifted girls, I would be suspected of being a lesbian child molester.

You might be wondering why I would have to offer free mentoring. Wouldn't parents pay for mentoring for a child? Perhaps. But if the child is gifted but the parent is not, fear is still present. The parent usually feels entitled to invade the child's privacy even when they hire a psychiatrist, and kids don't have the resources to pay their own bills. A creativity coach is an alien species, not a doctor or a therapist. Not only are parents reluctant to pay, they may--understandably--forbid contact. After all, there is a lot of real danger to kids roaming the web.

In a forum like craigslist, I have to be careful how I present myself. Even on my web site, I present more as a "stuffy professor" than I would like to.

I would like to feel that TT is a protected space where I don't have to put on an acceptable conventional persona to attract clients.

Hi Linda,
As I read your most recent post concerning the frustration of how to present one's self from vocational fields somewhat foreign to most parents/people, it made me think about specific words to be used designed to invoke familiarity to the "type 2" (sheep) majority of people who may have gifted children (especially in the time we live in when it appears that "diamond children" are arriving on the scene to help out during an alleged paradigm shift in consciousness!). I know that may sound a little condescending, but human nature is what it is, even during times of great change.

So here are three suggestions for possible "professional titles" to prime the pump of that wonderfully creative mind of yours:
"Creative Skills Specialist"
"Creative Skills Facilitator"
"Special Skills Facilitator"

Something/anything that makes the soccer mom coddling her children trust the outsider as someone she/he senses is very professional and really cares "as much as I do ("I" being parent)" about (early) Childhood Development (Child Development Professional Society). You might spend some time just writing down possible titles until you run across the one that full-on resonates with you, and serves to get past the stumbling block of unfounded parental concern.

Chris (aka Chakramon)

Magical Godmother's picture

Creativity coach is a recognized profession. I don't think calling myself a facilitator would help--just make me more mysterious or more boring.

The problem is I am what I am. I could pretend to be more conventional. That is what I did for my long academic career as a stuffy professor. Most people who work with gifteds are normal or high normal. When you move farther out into real deviance the normal folk get spooked. The only special thing I have to offer as a creativity coach is having been seriously deviant but having learned to operate among the normal people. I held a job, retired with a good pension, stayed out of jail and mental institutions and did not commit suicide.

It's not what I call myself but what I am once you get to know me that is the problem with normal protective parents. Not that this is always a problem. I have a reasonable number of normal friends who consider me weird but like me anyway. But the gifted kids who think they have somehow landed on the wrong planet make the connection with me before the parents do. Right now one of my pro bono clients, who is now all grown up at 18, has put me on her Facebook page to introduce me to other kids.

I find this quotation from a very young and very gifted girl to be spot on.

Akiane is/was such a delicious part of the finish of the lessons!!! She lives (in Post Falls, ID) a few miles from here in Liberty Lake, WA, and I still hope to meet her one of these days. Definitely one of the "Diamond Children", huh?

I think that we could add our 'offerings' to our personal profile. If someone resonates with you, then you are more likely to want what they have to offer - it is the people here that are the most important thing. I wouldn't want to see a Services directory as this is the last place I would think to look for any particular service, but it would be nice to offer what we can between friends. Like MagicalGodmother says, this isn't a place for business or professional hats.

I would like to offer EFT coaching/therapy to anyone who is interested in transforming themselves, dragging more of their shadow into the light, becoming all that they truly are in divinity etc. :-)) and an EFT group for sending empowerment to those who need it for the benefit of humanity. I'll make a separate post on that one in an appropriate place later.

I don't know why, but I still find myself unable to shake of a deep unease about EFT and abundance-thinking.  I have to go with my heart and my inner voice even if I don't fully understand the source of this mistrust.  In time it may become clear, but for now, that's where I'm at.

Maybe when there are more & near by members .

Most all of the skills I have used in the past are hands on tool / building , so there would need to be a nearby member to work with .

I was a union carpenter , until injured out in 85 , then auto repair till tools got stolen in 05 , and almost anything that requires a tool , welding - all kinds , machining , ellectrical , pluming .

My gole now is to go back to gold mining , and some day use it to help support alternitive community , with out going to conventional rat race .

Hi Marian,

Would love to learn more about EFT. I don't know much about it. I practise Reiki and Aura-Soma and am always interested in learning something new that I can help with.

Fortunately EFT is really easy to learn as Gary Craig has virtually given away all his information. The web site is packed with cases; the forums are populated and active; his DVDs are just SO CHEAP!!!; plus lots of people have recorded sessions or demos and put them on  YouTube. If you search EFT and phobia, you get lots of videos, or EFT and panic. But EFT is also a fabulous coaching and transformation technique because it quickly eradicates your negative beliefs - all you have to do is to find them, but EFT can even help with that too!

If you or anyone here has any specific requests, I'd be happy to provide some ideas of how to work it with EFT. The  EFT for maximum positive impact post has links to articles too and its author would like some people from the TT to work with him to use EFT to transform the planet.
