Love does not need Bribes

Noa's picture

"The only real way to stop the world of bribes is to stop empowering this way of life by not participating in it at personal levels. As more and more people become enlightened and realize that love and giving is the only answer to all the ills of the world this will slowly die as less empower it."

This all sounds well and good, but what does it actually mean?  Most of us have nothing to do with the corporate corruption directly.  To stop participating in feeding the system, each of us would have to completely withdraw from ordinary life -- take all our money out of the banks, stop voting, stop being a consumer of all goods, stop paying taxes, live off the grid, grow our own food, make our own clothing, build our own housing --  For most of us, that's short of impossible.

In regards to the second line, to "realize that love and giving is the only answer to all the ills of the world,"  I can tell you from one who lives from the heart center that loving acts are not always well-received (in my experience).  I'm amazed at how self-centered people I know continue to be, oblivious and unacknowledging despite my kindness and consideration.  It's as if they are so absorbed in their dog-eat-dog paradigm of survival, they can't recognize love even when it's directed right at them.  Their love deficit is like a gaping hole that cannot be filled.  (I'm not talking about romantic love here, but of simple compassion towards our fellow man.)

If living from love was not so entwined with who I am, I  would have thrown in the towel long ago and joined the ranks of the self-serving.

It's not that I don't agree with the author, I just think it's much easier to prescribe than to accomplish.

Agreed, Noa. When I act in love toward others, it's more about staying true to my higher self than getting recognition or gratitude. The recognition really only counts within, as I feel good knowing that I helped someone or did the right thing.

When you have acted lovingly even when those around you have not, you get it.

Now Tag - you're IT!

Acknowledgement and gratitude are nice, but I'd settle for less hostility.  Sometimes, I think mental dis-ease is rampant... or certainly, as I say, many folks seem to lack the empathy gene.

Sorry if I sound so negative, it's just that the reaction I've been receiving confounds me!

Life in this realm is a reflection...

Yes, Chris, I believe that people mirror each other.  However, since I practice kindness, gratitude, and compassion (regardless of what I receive), I don't understand my results.

Noa, I have found that often the 'results' I think I should get don't occur when I think they should, but in good time (or God's time as I would actually call it). Kindness begets kindness, etc. It may not come from the source you've given to, but it still comes back to you. Sometimes when you least expect it.

Love, kindness  and compassion feel the same whether we are giving or receiving them.
