honouring Mom's

I am alot of things, but one of the best of them is 'Mom'. When I look at where my life has been spent there is not a more rewarding title I could ever have earned. I was a 'stay at home' mom, not by choice but by necessity.

My oldest daughter was chronically, seriously ill, surviving 5 respiratory failures before the age of 10. She is now 24, a cardiac nurse who will soon be pursuing her Master's degree. Thank you Creator, for guiding us. Her little sister, will graduate from college next fall. Beautiful, intelligent, contributing women in a world that needs them. I am very blessed.

I write this now, in honour of all strong, beautiful, resilient women I know. In the U.S. we celebrate Mother's day. I'd like to celebrate women everywhere. We are a great hope, an open heart, a source of nurturing and support for so many. We are so greatly needed.

If I could give the young women in my life one lesson, it would be not to 'compete' but to 'complete' each other. There is no one that will support you more than a true woman friend. There is no one that can hurt you more than one that is not. Be the first kind. These are lessons well learned.

So in honor of Mother's day a little story...

Shirley and Marcy

A mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. He didn't want his mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe.

So she had an idea of how to handle it. She asked a neighbor if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn't notice her.

She said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor girl he knew. She did this for the whole week.

As the two walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy's little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week. Finally she said to Timmy, 'Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?'

Timmy nonchalantly replied, 'Yeah, I know who she is.' The little girl said, 'Well, who is she?'

'That's just Shirley Goodnest,' Timmy replied, 'and her daughter Marcy.'

'Shirley Goodnest? Who the heck is she and why is she following us?

'Well,' Timmy explained, 'every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it says,

'Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life', so I guess I'll just have to get used to it!'

May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you,and give you peace.

May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today and always.

I know you smiled! I did too.                Happy Mother's Day !          kristyne

Thank you, Kristyne!

What a sweet story, and your own story is so beautifully written, I couldn't add another word to improve on the message.  I truly feel that feminine energy is something that could change the world for the better.  When women learn to love one another and work together versus being petty and competitive, the changes we can bring about are extraordinary.

This is not at all a dis on the guys of this community or the world... I'm just suggesting that we're out of balance, and the divine feminine energy is what's lacking.

Let's each embrace our divine feminine and celebrate that part of ourselves this weekend!

Much love and light,

Kathy

PS - Just realized that I said I couldn't add another word, then went on to write two more paragraphs... lol  My face is red.  : )

and observed, Kristyne. Thank you.  We all should remember whatever our gender to be kind and patient with our receptive feminine nature and let her open like the 1,000 petaled lotus.

Namaste,

Tricia

This is a good place to post a link to something that will enrich all mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, grandmothers, aunts...

It is time again to honor the women who matter in our lives.  Some of you still have Mom's, some are Mom's, some are 'surrogate' Mom's (to others children, to animals, to the men in our lives...you name it!) and every one is a beautiful woman in her own right.

One of the most important roles that fall to women is in the nurturing of our world and our worlds children.  So I call upon you again, to join with 'Standing Women' everywhere today and everyday, but also in your gathering together with others on Mother's day.

STANDING WOMEN'S INVITATION

Please stand with us for five minutes of silence at 1 p.m. your local time on May 8, 2016, in your local park, school yard, gathering place, or any place you deem appropriate, to signify your agreement with the statement below. Please stand at a different hour with a different time zone if 1 p.m. is not your preferred time. We ask you to invite the men who you care about to join you.  We ask that you bring bells to ring at 1 p.m. to signify the beginning of the five minutes of silence and to ring again to signify the end of the period of silence.  During the silence, please think about what you individually and we collectively can do to attain this world.  If you need to sit rather than stand, please feel free to do so.  Afterwards, hopefully you and your loved ones can talk together about how we can bring about this world.

DECLARATION OF STANDING
We are standing for the world’s children and grandchildren, and for the seven generations to come.
We dream of a world where all of our children have safe drinking water, clean air to breathe, and enough food to eat.
A world where they have access to a basic education to develop their minds and healthcare to nurture their growing bodies.
A world where they have a warm, safe and loving place to call home.
A world where they don’t live in fear of violence--in their homes, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, or in their world.
This is the world of which we dream.
This is the cause for which we stand.

You can visit StandingWomen.net and post about what, where and who you 'stand' for.

a friend sent the 'Standing Women' declaration back to me with her subtle changes and in reading them i realize just how right she is in making them.  So here below, is the 'revised' declaration. Her reminder-see it as already done-and so be it.  How very important both our intent and our words are!

Moment of Love

The brief statement below reminds us of the common humanity we share with all people in our world. Take a moment to read these words slowly and drink in the beautiful message here. By choosing to focus less on what divides us, and more on what unites us, we can more effectively build a brighter future for us all.
Moment of Love, Heart.

Every person in the world has a heart.

Every heart has a place within
that wants only to love and be loved.

Let us connect with that
place of love in our own heart
and in the hearts of all around us.

Let us take a moment now
to open to the heart connection
we share with all people through love.

To all the beautiful Mothers out there, the mother / child bond is like no other they are  the  nuturers!

I love you Mom !!!!
