Free Range Kids: How to Raise Safe, Self-Reliant Children (Without Going Nuts with Worry), Lenore Skenazy.
I have just finished reading this book. OMG I laughed so heartily while reading this book. I recommend this book for anyone wishing to let go of the fear habits and the worry habits. It is a great big breathe of fresh air.
I heartily enjoyed the pragmatism of Lenore's observations as a human being, mother and woman. It was a delightful read. And uproaring funny too.
My favorite quote:
Fear is like oxygen. We don't even notice its there, but boy do we breathe it in. (Free Range Kids: How to Raise Safe, Self-Reliant Children (Without Going Nuts with Worry), Lenore Skenazy. pg xix)
Thanks for sharing. My kids are grown now, but this would still be an interesting read. For all my good intentions, in hindsight, there are so many things I wish I could go back and do better. Not passing on my fears is one of them.
Thank you for the concept. It is a shame that we confine children so much, both physically inside and temporally by forcing these ridiculously heavy schedules down their throats these days leaving them so little time to just be and play.
This brings to mind the whole idea that the human race is being treated a bit like cattle these days. Looking forward to a time soon when we can all be free range.
