Greetings and salutations to all!
I'm a new team member and this is my first attempt at a blog entry so bear with me as I unload one of my favorite tales of the horrors being heaped on the human race.
In the late 1980's I was watching a NOVA program that was reporting on an investigation to determine the cause of the disapperance of male fish and frogs in the lower Thames River in the UK. I believe the study was being conducted by the U. of Oxford. They found female fish with undeveloped male organs but no male fish. As they worked their was upstream they suddenly found normal male fish and frogs. The demarcation point seemed to be the discharge pipe from a plastics factory. The investigation lasted for 4yrs and the findings were so disturbing that the government ordered the university to repeat the study before they could make their findings public. There is a substance in soft plastic that mimics female hormones and disturbs the normal development of males. This substance is so pervasive in our environment that it was altering the results in the universilty labs. Everything made of soft plastic had to be discarded and replaced by glass. The results of the second study duplicated the first. The production of some forms of plastic and the plastic items themselves are dangerous to humans. From plastic baby bottles to plastic water bottles, from plastic food wrappers to plastic food storage containers our society is deluged with this tide of female hormones. Most of this information never reached the public as it was feared it would cause a panic. The legal eagles of the plastics industry went into high gear and threatened and harassed anyone or any institution attempting further research. The last major revelation was on the Bill Moyers show in 2006 when he showed just how ruthless this industry can be. They covered up the illnesses that plant workers endured and frequently died from by providing workers free medical services at the plant, but they could not seek outside medical intervention.
There is an amazing correlation between the growth of the plastics industry starting in the 1950's and the incidence of testicular cancer, breast cancer, malformation of the genitalia in newborn baby boys, man boobs ( overdevelopment in breast tissue in males ), low fertility rates etc.etc. If you microwave food using soft plastic containers the food is contaminated by this substance.
I don't know if there's a limit on how long this blog can be but I think you get the idea. A major worldwide industry is harming people and nothing is be done about it!
