Wade Davis on Ted.com video with people of 6,000 languages are not failed attempts at being modern

Wanted to bring attention to this great video of indigenous cultures and their rituals.  Not failed attempts to survive, but artfully connected.

Is there ever a bad or boring TED lecture? I have never seen one.

I am going to watch this several more times to really soak it up. Reminds me of something the Dalai Lama said in response to John Perkins concerning the 14th and last Lama - "I believe the authority that has resided her is moving to South America". No surprise when one watches a video like that, the majesty of a culture so grounded in harmony with mother earth, so much intuitive understanding and surrender to a better way.

They see what we (their "younger brothers") are doing to the earth "and yet still they pray"

They are leading the way for how to address the "evils" of these times. I would do well to follow their lead and "pray" with them, and see the earth as abstract until I learn. Their beautiful countenances make me weep with joy. We can take courses on "Deep Ecology" - they live it and are immersed in it from the start (loved the 18 year training session).

Unassailable Love, Chris

P.S. I love telling people (especially "white" people) that they are descended from approx. 1000 people from Africa 70,000 years ago, especially since Barack Obama is running for president (he's half white ya know, LOL). Was a refreshing affirmation to hear Wade Davis mention this most recent DNA bottleneck of mankind in his lecture....

And it took me on a voyage of "panentheism where God imminently exists within the manifest universe interpenetrating all that we can touch and see, while simultaneously existing infinitely beyond the universe in timeless transcendence." (Ken Wilber)

Also Trungpa's words..."True spontaneity feels the texture of the situation because it is less involved with self consciousness, the attempt to secure oneself in a given situation.

All is well...truly,

Tricia

Watched it again and dreamed of a new world carved from an ancient wisdom of faithful dreamers.

"All peoples are cultural options, different visions of Life itself"

"What is science but the imperical pursuit of the truth?"

The "Wayfinder" genius of the Polynesians, who can navigate according to the individual and distinct signatures of the reverberating waves against the hulls of their boats, got me thinking about how dull we in "western civilization" have become. Need something to eat? Go to the store and charge it. Need directions? Global Positioning System and carefully-folded maps. Need heat? Turn up the thermostat. All of this convenience must take a toll on our innovative abilities and imagination. Example: We have become so desensitized and depleted of common sense (collectively speaking) that we couldn't tell immediately what really happened to those 3 WTC buildings on Sept. 11. Not even driven (collectively, in an effectual manner) to wonder and ponder. It reminds me of the children with blank stare masks on in the Pink Floyd video, "Another Brick in the Wall" willfully marching like hypnotized drones into the meat grinder.

and Comfortably Numb

As always, we live in very exciting and wonderful times!!!!

Unassailable Love, Chris

Waking up is just remembering that our brain and "thoughts about"...is just a receiver like a TV.

Consciousness transmits always and already like the Sun is always and already behind the clouds. Sometimes more clear than other times depending on how much we believe in the brain.

Consciousness, never numbed just ignored.  Ignorance.

I'm feeling your expansion Chris, Wow!

like the blueberry girl in Willie Wonka!

roll me to the juicer room, stat!

love the sun behind the clouds visionary reference!

puts it right back on each of us "fractals" with eternally-honored free will.

we are waking up and it really is a beautiful day!

nothin' else it can be, actually,

for eyes either look and see what they wanna see,

or look and be, regardlessly, freely,

spinning round and round with head above the clouds,

soaking up the sun endlessly

in a time called now

Happy 4th of whatever everyone!!!!!!

P.S.  Hey Tricia, just wanted to thank you for your very gracious and intuitive sense of and desire for creating a safe place for loved ones to be.  this gift is definitely part of and how harmony  will be increased 1000 fold in the near future.  Thanks for being it now.....

   by your comments, Chris.

Hey, you're a movie buff.  Do you remember V for Vendetta ?

How artfully presented that an idea/insight can never be buried.

   I love that movie!

   Love ya brother,

not just blowin' smoke either! (emphatic rhetoric for emphasis alert)

I mean to affirm these things I see as I see them and try to see them more and more so I can see better and be better seen, see? LOL

caught V for V again a few weeks ago when it was on TV and it gets better and better for all they bravely and so unabashedly portray in that inspired movie!  Another one to go back to sometime if you get the chance is Bulworth.  After eight long years of this administration it has become even more appropriate than when it was made.

I love when art forms do that!!!!!

Thanks Tricia, the quote that captured my attention was 'The measure of a society is not what it does but on the quality of its aspirations.'  Linking Chris' post to 'Imagine' and out attempts at envisioning the new Earth, it seems we elevate our consciousness to the level of the so called 'primitives' when we participate in the science of active imagination (prayer) within the integral of all that is.  As one, Rob.

Love your reference to "the so called primatives"

(we should be so lucky, huh)

and

"the science of active imagination"

After collectively spending far too much time looking down our modern day noses at "them", we may soon find ourselves depending upon their ancient knowledge, understanding and apt ability to survive in a world without "WalMart"

I so look forward to greater recognition and understanding of the 4D life the "primatives" have been very much aware of for a very long time....

Love, Chris
