Thanks fairyfarmgirl for this link. It really shows the potential transforming power of women and this is just the tip of the iceberg as this is happening in different place around the world. Even the U.N. has said that the key to population control and poverty is the education and empowerment of women. Brazil has found that to raise a population out of poverty they provide aid to the women because they will use that aid to help themselves and their families, whereas the men take the aid money and party! I think women will be prime movers bringing the world to peace, love and harmony!
Women's hearts and women's wisdom are, IMHO, the key to the restoration of balanced relationships, healthy communities, and peace, justice and prosperity in our world. Thanks for this one, Elizabeth.
Bless you more,
John
My favorite charity is Heifer International. The concept is simple and effective. Donations buy cows, pigs, rabbits, chickens, goats, ducks, etc. which help turn impoverished villages into thriving communities. A pregnant animal is given to a needy family in exchange for the promise that the offspring will be given to other villagers. In this way, one animal raises the standard of living for the entire village.

The recipients are primarily single women with children. A donation of a single goat is enough to enable a child to go to school who otherwise has no hope of being educated.
Recent US budget cuts have drastically cut funding to charities which keep billions of people from dying of starvation. If you're inclined to make a donation, your gift will grow exponentially.
A fun way to give is by using Heifer's gift catalog. Instead of buying your loved ones more things they don't need for their birthday or Christmas, you can give them unique and priceless gifts that will enrich the lives of countless people for years to come.
