Yesterday, December 11, 2007, had a very ominous beginning. We were getting rain, sleet and snow. All of that on top of the 8 inches of snow already on the ground. We like to begin our days meeting friends in local coffeehouses, but these country people decided not to give it a try. That was a large part of the "ominous beginning".
Today, December 12, 2007, we awoke to find ourselves living in the middle of a sparkling winter wonderland. The sun was shining in a clear blue sky and everything glistened like fine crystal. I just cannot put into words the beauty of it all.
The brunt of the storm missed our area, so there was not enough icing to cause damage - just immense beauty. The main roads to the coffeehouse were clear - except for lots and lots of salt. Liquid and otherwise - bless those road crews!
