Be Still My Soul

Sisters and brother on the Gathering Spot,

Sometimes something occurs which give one the touch of the angels kiss. Tonight as I normally do before preparing for meditation, I turned on XM/Sirius radio and the piece of music which was playing was a hymn which was a favorite in my youth.  I never realized why it was so sympathetic to my spirit until now. If you read the following lyrics with a metaphysical sense as I have you will realize as I have how the author  Katherina von Schlegel,was so very ahead of her time in 1752.  Let the words morph into the language which we comprehend in the Light of today and you will also be blessed.

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.

Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessèd we shall meet at last.

Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise
On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high;
Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways,
So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye.
Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine
Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.

words much appreciated this morning, as i've worked with 5 families in two weeks letting go of loved ones. so hard for some to understand it should not be a time of fear or sadness as we see loved ones on their way. honoring life even in the passing of it seems to be what i'm called to share right now.

remaining within the peace of God while assisting others seems sometimes a difficult path but i trust i am where i am and doing as i am needed to do. thanks again Berry. i'd love to know where to find the piece of music you've posted the lyrics to. Light love and many blessings, kristyne

When I first heard Lisa's amazing voice I weeped, and still weep to this day when I hear her sing. Her range is nothing short of, well there is no word that would not limit the description of her gift.... enjoy!

The music score to which this was written is the Finlandia score.  I'm sure Chris has provided a great recording of it.

Thank you Chris, especially for the Libera video.  Excellent.  Synchronistically, I was listening to it at lunch time and one of my co-workers heard and came into my office with a big beaming smile and said that she had just receive the link in an email this morning as well.  We both got a little emotional together, listening to it again. Thank again.
