MESSIN' WITH MY MIND
I came home the other night about a quarter past two,
I was hopin' for some giblets and some gravy too.
I took a look around when I came through the door,
It looked like my baby don't live here no more.
She keeps messin' with my mind, messin' with my mind,
I don't like to whine but that gal of mine
Keeps messin' with my worried mind.
Now when Abraham was just about to amputate,
All of a sudden the Lord said, "Wait!
Abraham, put away your sword!"
Abe looked up at the sky and he said, "Lord.......
You keep messin' with my mind, messin' with my mind,
I asked for a sign but nevermind!
You keep messin' with my worried mind."
Look, I'm full of love for the man in the hall,
Grandma and grandpa and the kids at the mall,
But common confusion is bad for your health.
Step back, brother, keep it all to yourself -
Don't be messin' with my mind, messin' with my mind,
If it's just moonshine don't waste my time,
Messin' with my worried mind.
I'm not a psychic and I'm not a cop,
And I'm probably not the brightest kid on the block
But I think it's a crime and I think it's a sin
That we gotta play the game when it's so damn hard to win!
It keeps messin' with my mind, messin' with my mind,
Like an unfinished rhyme, from time to time,
It keeps messin' with my worried mind.
