I moved
I was very moved by their letter and thought I might sign it until it asked if I was ex-military and I'm not so I didn't sign. I'm glad to learn of their initiative so I can support it. Bless them for their courage.
No need to be a veteran
Hi Brian,
I don't believe the letter is meant to be only from veterans and those currently serving. You can simply not check the box and sign. The idea is that for those that are veterans, their branch and place of service can be added to their signiture.
Wendy
very moving
Thank you for posting this Wendy. I have just read it on ATS and was deeply moved by it, as I was by the actual wikileaks video.
I was an Army wife for 21 years, my ex husband was in the British Army. There are a lot of good men in the forces that just want to serve their country and fight for what they believe in. I dont believe in the current wars and am very glad I am not still an Army wife, it was bad enough waiting for news from Northern Ireland. I can remember my ex saying he was cheered by some and spat on by others, it is much worse now.
I am appalled by the comments on the wikileaks video, they are so removed from reality. These were real people they were killing, human beings.......................................words fail me.
It is good to hear from foot soldiers, the footage in the video of the soldier carrying the child, that was the only part of the video that I felt showed compassion. My heart goes out to all the armed forces everywhere that are ridiculed for having feelings.
How much worse can all this get before it starts getting better?
Sorry longest post yet, hope it makes sense. I will clarify later if I have said anything wrong.
with heartfelt love valx
Hidden tragedy
I get the feeling the video is the tip of the iceberg of violence there. There is almost NO MENTION of the Iraq War now in the news. How can it be we're at war against two countries and there is often no mention of events there day after day? (except Fox, who daily spin war events as evidence of why we should remain at war-sickening)
I am also appalled by those comments on the Internet valstanton. I wish I could leap thru the screen and slap these people. Lives spent spewing hatred. I pity them their self loathing because I believe you'd have to be in agony to behave like this.
Peace-Brian
